Apple files patents for solar-powered iPhones
|

With scientists sharing grim reports that we're running out of this energy source and that fossil fuel, there's an understandable rush to get new sources running smoothly.

One of these sources is solar power, and it would appear Apple is planning on investing in a bright future.

Recently filed patents from Steve Jobs and co. suggest the company will be putting solar cells on its products at some time in the future.

The most recent patent filing was for 'touch sensor integrated solar panels' for mobile devices, with the idea to cover an entire device in a thin layer of solar cells.

Given that we've already had a number of peeks at the next iPhone, and that the patent was only recently filed, this technology most likely won't feature on the next iPhone.

Just imagine if Apple manage to pull this off in the future, though - you'd never run out of power at the most inappropriate time ever again.

Well, unless it was night, obviously.
