Okay, so this is a Wii exclusive game that revered Sonic The Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka has just announced, but from the description it sounds to have taken a pretty strong lead from the way iPhone games are played.

You play Let’s Tap by placing the Wii controller on a flat surface and then tapping your fingers on it in time with the game.

When the controller’s on this solid surface, its accelerometer is apparently sensitive enough to allow for a variety of finger tapping mini-games, such as setting off fireworks, removing blocks from a stack and controlling the movements of a stick figure using careful finger drumming.

As you can see, this sounds like the ideal game for an iPhone conversion, and although it’s not been announced (or even considered, as far as we know) it seems as though the iPhone’s multi-touch interface has had a profound effect on Naka-san’s new game design ideas (Tap Tap Revenge springs immediately to mind).

Naturally, the stumbling block here is the burgeoning rivalry between Nintendo and Apple, though Let’s Tap has been designed by Naka’s Prope Studio, so it’s not impossible that an iPhone translation might one day appear.

At the very least, if his concept takes off we can expect the pocket clones to attack.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
