We followed rumours of the iPhone hardware update for many a long month, and now that the 3GS is finally in circulation it's clear that these episodic upgrades are well worth our attention.
And no sooner than the new iPhone model hit the shelves, we find ourselves embroiled in
rumours of an iPod touch upgrade being in the works.
The latest addition to Apple's Chinese whisper comes, rather ironically, from China.
CultOfMac has uncovered a gallery of images published by a Chinese manufacturer of iPhone, iPod and iPod touch cases. These cases are reported for the next generation of iPod touch and iPod nano devices, and offer all a bit of gossip surrounding camera lens cutouts on the back.
The addition of a camera and microphone is one of the stronger rumours floating around the blogosphere for the third generation iPod touch, though it's something of a surprise to see a potential camera mounted on the nano. Also expected is a microphone and extra memory capacity.
Apparently these images come from samples being sent out by the Chinese manufacturer, suggesting a degree of certainty in the design of the device they're intended for.

I'd guess that most of the hardware specs are going to match the 3GS - RAM, CPU, additional storage, camera megapixels, etc.
GPS and a compass would be awesome, but I suspect not...

I just bought this flippin Itouch 2g and now Im gonna be looking out for another one? *sigh* Gadgets are too expensive...
Time to start working overtime to satisfy my gadget addiction.
