According to findings by the iPhone repair site iResQ, the iPhone 4.0 - the next incarnation of Apple’s smartphone - will be larger that the current 3GS model.

iResQ claims the pictured faceplate is in fact from the new iPhone, and roughly quarter of an inch longer in size. They also claim it has a reflective surface directly above the speaker which will be the location for the proximity sensor. If true, this will be different from the current design.

Whether or not the faceplate is really from the iPhone 4.0 (iResQ claims the way it was presented to them suggests so), it isn’t surprising to see the iPhone get a slight boost in size to accommodate new hardware.

It wasn’t long ago that Apple took out another patent for solar panels in the device, and a boost in screen size is usually welcomed with open arms.
