Apple to start making games?

Game devs join Apple's ranks, and the call goes out for more

As you might have heard, gaming on the iPhone and iPod touch has become really quite popular of late. But looking at a new job posting on Apple's boards, it seems the iPhone creator doesn't like to label its devices with terms such as "games", when "interactive multimedia experiences" would suffice.

"The interactive media group is looking for a skilled software engineer who wants to work as part of a small highly motivated team to work on interactive multimedia experiences on the iPhone and iPod Touch," the job posting cryptically explains.

It goes on to detail that the right candidate much have 3-4 years experience as a game developer and shipped at least one triple A title, and be a passionate gamer (shouldn't that be a "passionate interactive multimedia experiencer"?)

Ever since Apple hired the lead designer of Halo Wars, Graeme Devine, rumours have been abound that Cupertino is interested in becoming a first party game developer for iPhone and iPod touch, and now it looks as though things are ramping up nicely.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
