30 million iPhones and iPod touches sold
In 80 different countries
Over on Stu’s liveblog of the iPhone update, the number 3.0 sounds pretty big. It seems like only yesterday that we were deliberating over whether to bother with the 1.2 update.
But Apple’s jumped up on stage and removed that decimal point when talking about the number of iPhones and iPod touches sold. It’s recently racked up a whopping 30 million sales, 17 of which are iPhones.
That four million more iPhones have been sold than iPod touches comes as something of a surprise, considering the much weightier costs of the phone-equipped version.
Still, 13 million iPod touches goes a long way toward explaining the platform becoming established as a full-on handheld games system, and with Apple having built a presence in 80 different countries, these figures seem likely to continue growing.
