Facebook Connect comes to iPhone games

Tap Tap Revenge 2 and iBowl kick things off

Facebook Connect comes to iPhone games

We've been waiting for Facebook Connect to come to iPhone for a while now, but today appears to be the day.

Tap Tap Revenge 2 has just received an update including Facebook Connect functionality. That means you link the game to your Facebook account, allowing you to post feed items to your profile whenever you get a high score.

The update is version 2.0.1 of Tapulous' music game - it popped up in the App Store updates section on our iPhone this afternoon. The image above is the screen where you sign into Facebook to link the two.

And it's not the only one. SGN's iBowl has been updated to version 5.0, also with Facebook Connect included.

This is going to be a big deal for iPhone gaming: the ability to see who else in your Facebook network is playing a game, and compare your scores, is a great incentive to keep playing.

What's more, linking iPhone games to news feeds means the games will get more viral promotion - and hopefully more sales.

UPDATE - the news has been officially announced now, and here's the rest of our coverage:
