iPhone Game Developers World Championship squad lists
|

The plaster cast may still be drying on injured metatarsals and the wags have barely begun to pack their bags, but these are the star players who've been selected to represent their respective nations in the inaugural iPhone Game Developers World Championship. (N.B. If you've no idea what this is all about, perhaps you should pop along here for more info).

Group A:

The French team may be pre-tournament favourites to top the group on sales form with big guns like N.O.V.A. and Edge, but the other three squads have more than enough talent to make an impact and spring a few surprises.

Poland
Future Fight / (Bloober Team)
Kissing Frenzy / (Tequila Mobile)
Ski Jumping 2010 / (Vivid Games)

Canada
Dark Void Zero / (Other Ocean Interactive)

Group B:

Argentina may well be streets ahead in the footballing world, but when it comes to app developers there's a little less strength in depth, with a heavy reliance on Odasoft's hit titles. Instead it's the South Koreans who look like the heavyweights here with the largely unsung Romanians tipped as dark horses.

Argentina
Silent Swords / (Oniric Games)
Catcha Mouse 3 / (Odasoft)
Truco / (Odasoft)

Estonia
Fling! / (CandyCane Apps)
Fuzzle / (CandyCane Apps)

F.A.S.T. / (Revo Solutions)
Magnetic Sports Soccer / (Revo Solutions)

Group C:

Much like that other kickabout in South Africa, England and the USA are the bookies' favourites to progress from their Group. Never underestimate the popularity of cricket on the subcontinent, though, and always beware potential banana skins in major competitions.

England
X2 Soccer 2010 / (Exient)
Arachnadoodle / (Connect2Media)

Group D:

Both Germany and Australia have called up twin-hitters from their most successful club sides, so should be well placed to move on to the knockout stages. Meridian's zombie hit will likely prove Hong Kong's best chance for survival.

Group E:

The Group of Death. In every major tournament, there's always one, isn't there. These four impressive nations' fates could be decided by a single goal, a deflected shot, or even a dodgy refereering call.

Holland
Air Traffic Controller 4.0 / (Lunagames)
Pulse: The Game / (Virtual Fairground)
Toki Tori / (Two Tribes)

Denmark
Mystery Mania / (Progressive Media)
Whac-A-Mole / (Kiloo)

Group F:

With an established franchise in Championship Manager in its lineup, and a cult TV tie-in up its sleeve, all eyes are on Scotland to see if it can avoid coming home too soon this time. The Czech Republic has intriguingly selected a group of players from one club, banking on familiarity with one another to bring success.

Italy
Vempire / Impressionware
iScopa / Doclouisjones.com
Fallen - Ep. 1 / 7th Sense Studios Scotland
The Crystal Maze / Dynamo Games
