Go ahead, brighten my day. Apple confirms iPhone event for September 10

Apple has sent out invitations for a special event on September 10 where it's expected to show off the next-generation iPhone.

Note that the invitations don't mention anything about the iPhone specifically, but if history is any indication it's safe to say we'll be filling next Tuesday's page with details on the latest smartphones from Cupertino.

Based on various leaks and rumours, Apple is expected to unveil a new 'budget' iPhone model dubbed the iPhone 5C alongside the iPhone 5's successor, known thus far as the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6.

Given the colourful nature of the invitations themselves, we also think it's safe to assume that Apple will unveil new colour options for the iPhone product line which has historically lived in a classy, black-or-white dichotomy.

At any rate, check back here on Tuesday September 10 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time (1 p.m. Eastern Time, or 6 p.m. GMT) for the details.
