Rumour: iPhone 5 will boast thinner display and improved image quality thanks to 'in-cell' technology

It's an all-new day, which means we have an all-new iPhone rumour to share with you.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple will use "in-cell" technology in order to make the display on its next iPhone iteration a lot thinner.

In fact, "people familiar with the matter" purport that Sharp Corp., Japan Display Inc., and LG Display Co. have already started to manufacture displays boasting this tech for the upcoming iPhone 5.

The technology apparently integrates touch sensors directly into the LCD, which removes the need for an additional component layer just for the touchscreen.

This is said to reduce device thickness, improve image quality, and even lower Apple's costs.
