The Apple rumours are going camera crazy at the moment, and today there's fresh speculation regarding picture snappers for the next iPhone and iPad hardware.

Scott Moritz, technology reporter for The Street, writes that Apple will be upgrading the iPhone camera to an 8-megapixel shooter in its next hardware update. Rodman Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar says that Apple will be ditching camera-chip supplier OmniVision and will be cuddling up with Sony to supply the new cameras.

We'll know for sure when Apple reveals the fourth generation iPhone, which is heavily rumoured to debut in June.

In bigger screened news, the iPad might be receiving a camera after all. The Cupertino company has posted a job application looking for a "Performance QA Engineer" on the iPad team, and is hunting for someone who knows a thing or two about "still, video and audio capture".
