White iPhone 4 rumoured again as Walmart appears to make shelf space

For a company at the cutting edge of consumer technology, Apple is having a strangely hard time making the outside of its latest gadget white.

A number of reasons have been suggested for the delay, ranging from the difficulty of manufacturing white reinforced glass to the effect whiteness has on the proximity sensor, but whatever the cause it ain't here, and Apple hasn't said when it will be.

Inevitably, rumours and 'sightings' have sprung up intermittently over the last few months. Here's another.

Technology site Pocketnow has run a story containing a photograph of what looks like a shelf in Walmart on which the words 'iPhone 4 White 16GB' are printed', prompting the author to suggest that the phone will be along in the next couple of days.

Unfortunately, Walmart making shelf space for the white iPhone 4 doesn't necessarily mean the white iPhone 4 is en route to Walmart.
