Firemint's awesome iPhone institutions Real Racing and Flight Control took joint first place in the previous Pocket Gamer Quality Index, and two powerhouse titles like that will take a lot of beating, I'm sure you'll agree.

Over on our sister site PocketGamer.biz, editor Jon Jordan has just finished compiling the latest iPhone Quality Index, which aggregates review scores from a variety of online publications to calculate which games the critics enjoyed most between 1st July to 30th September 2009.

Taking the prestigious top spot this period is Godzilab's iBlast Moki, which earned itself a very impressive 9.5 out of 10, besting the second quarters winners which tied at 9.33.

And it's not alone. Taito's spectacular reinvention of its seminal coin-op classic Space Invaders Infinity Gene, which came in at a very close second place, also performed better than Q2's winners with a score of 9.47.

Although it's congratulations all round, Secret Exit's Zen Bound still remains the overall champion, having landed an almost flawless score of 9.75 in the Q1 2009 Quality Index.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
