More evidence that it's all go in mobile games – whether you're a gamer or a high-flying industry executive – comes today with reports that leading games companies Glu and Ifone are set to join forces.

Ifone, a 45-strong UK company based in Manchester, will merge with global mobile games outfit Glu, to create a new mobile games giant worth as much as $250 million, according to story by the games business weekly MCV.

The two companies are behind some of Pocket Gamer's favourite titles. Ifone is currently enjoying great success with its superb Sonic the Hedgehog game, while Glu's excellent roster of killer mobile titles includes Zuma and Ancient Empires.

The new company will reportedly seek a listing on the US stock market – the same path that mobile games giant Jamdat took before being swallowed whole for $684 million by games megacorp Electronic Arts late last year.
