World Tour Soccer 2

If it's fast-paced and points-based football action you crave, you've come to the right pitch

World Tour Soccer 2

Sequel to the reasonably well received World Tour Soccer, WTS2 has undergone a graphical overhaul and has been designed specifically for the PSP to reflect a style of play that Sony believes best suits its handheld console.

In essence, WTS2 is all about showboating. In either the game's World Tour or Medal Mode, playing with style is more important than winning as you make your way across the globe, facing off against increasingly stronger teams in one of the eight new stadiums.

Success is achieved by beating the challenges the game lays down for you – each of the 11 game options on offer delivers a unique trial, be it rating you on perfect passes and shots on goal, testing your distribution skills as well as your ability to bring teammates into the game, or scoring points and goals against the clock, to name just a few. Winning challenges, we're reliably told, will unlock new game modes and new teams, including all-star squads.

In addition, four-player Wi-Fi fun as well as two-player Infrastructure support are promised and, continuing Sony's drive to increase after-purchase content, further game modes will also be available for download.

Due for release, obviously, around the time of the World Cup this summer, WTS2 includes 71 international teams and hopes to offer a significantly different experience to the traditional football titles. As soon as we get our virtual feet on its digital pitch, we'll let you know whether this is the case or not!
