Awards Season
Ancient Empires II and Skipping Stones win accolades
We’ve had the Grammys and the Brits, and the Oscars are just around the corner, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the mobile phone gaming world wants in on the act, too. Enter, beaming, games publishers I-Play and Glu, who've been beating their respective chests after each collecting a gong recently.
I-Play picked up the Best Made for Mobile Game award at the recent 3GSM show in Barcelona for its sublime Skipping Stone game, while Glu won Game of the Year from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences for Ancient Empires II.
Both games are well deserving of acclaim – you can check out the Pocket Gamer review for each by clicking on the game names above – and it’s encouraging to see that both titles have been developed from original ideas, rather than relying on movie licenses for popularity.
Kristian Segerstråle, managing director of Glu, went further: “It is recognition of the hard work and dedication from everyone at Glu, and a vote of confidence in our continued commitment to creating original and innovative mobile entertainment.”
