Abstract, minimalist puzzler Zengrams is prefaced on the App Store with a very bold claim, and one that's probably a big fat lie.

"WARNING: Zengrams is the most challenging puzzle game on iOS," it reads.

This is the doing of publisher Gameblyr, who previously published the cracking abstract boardgame Pathogen, and the pretty good top-down crime caper Third Eye Crime.

Gameblyr has decided to push the "hardcore" side of Zengrams to grab peoples' attention. Going so far as to joke that if "Dark Souls and Blek had a baby, this would be it."

I know it's an easy lure for people who like challenging games as I am one of them. And for some reason it's working on me.

"Do not be alarmed if you cannot complete all 70 mindbending puzzles - most players cannot," it also says on the App Store page.

And I keep flipping it over in my mind - but am I most players? Maybe I'm one of the few that will beat it.

I'm intrigued. How hard can rearranging shapes into the correct design be? I keep wondering. Maybe I'll check it out later - perhaps it really is hard, but it's probably not... right?

For those of you without the resolve I'm managing to hold onto in resistance of the bait, you can purchase Zengrams on the App Store for £1.99 / $2.99 right now.
