2DBoy has confirmed that the eagerly awaited iPhone version of World of Goo will be arriving on the App Store this Thursday, having navigated its way past the Apple approval process without a hitch.

At the same time, the iPad HD version will get an update to make it a universal app, meaning that existing iPad owners won’t have to buy the title a second time if they want to play on the ‘normal sized’ iPod touch, which is always a pleasant bonus.

World of Goo is a physics puzzler first seen on the PC and Wii in which you construct a variety of towers, bridges, and other constructions using slimy, sloppy goo balls.

It’s also a Pocket Gamer Gold Award-winning game, with yours truly calling it "the best physics puzzler available on iPad" when it was first released last year.

The iPhone version of the game will launch at a one-day only price of 59p/99c before rising up to £1.79/$2.99, so speed is of the essence if you want to catch yourself a real bargain.

The HD version will stay at £2.99/$4.99.
