Happy Valentine's Day - check out the App Store's cutest video game partnerships

| Where's My Water? 2

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, us folk at Pocket Gamer decided to take a look into how much romance the App Store has to offer.

No, that doesn't mean we scoured its multitude of dating apps in a desperate bid to find love for ourselves.

Instead, we took a explored the finest games on iOS in search of really cute video game partnerships.

They may not all be couples but all of their bonds are bound to produce an 'awwww' moment or two.

Allie & Swampy - Where's My Water? 2

Allie was originally Cranky's missus until Swampy found her a lovely purple bow and she fell in love with him instead.

Yes, that is a very sweet story. A little harsh on Cranky though, isn't it? Crocodiles have feelings too, you know.

Ayuta & Mana - Chaos Rings

Admittedly, this is a bit of a tragic love story but I won't go into too many details so as to avoid spoilers.

Ayuta, a stablehand, thought he was in love with Princess Mana but it unfolds that he was actually in love with her body double, Shea.

It's convenient, then, that it wasn't Princess Mana who was taken to the Ark Arena - it was Shea.

Penumbear & the firefly - Penumbear

Penumbear and the firefly are a match made in heaven.

They're both trapped in a castle basement, and firefly has the ability to turn lights on and off while Penumbear can walk on both shadow and light.

It's a cute little partnership that goes completely unspoken but they're the ying to each other's yang and it's adorable to watch.

Male agent & female agent - FRAMED

All I knew about the plot when playing FRAMED was that everyone was desperate to get their hands on that suitcase.

Well, that and the fact that the male and female agents had a thing for each other.

Whether they were working together or against each other, there was some definite chemistry.

Mikey & Miley - Mikey Boots

It's about time Mikey got some help - he can't be expected to save the world by himself.

Miley is introduced in the third game with a pair of flashy jetpack boots that enable her to fly.

Don't they look so cute flying together with their boots? Anyone?

Hero & Neeti - Oceanhorn

This bond kind of blossoms out of nowhere and despite nothing having happened with these two beforehand.

That doesn't stop it from being adorable though, nor my mind running away with the romance that blossoms after the ending credits have rolled.

Guybrush Threepwood & Elaine Marley - The Secret of Monkey Island

One of those will they, won't they relationships designed to frustrate and keep you coming back for more.

There's great chemistry between the two though and any frustration melts at seeing them together on-screen.

Emmet Brickowski & Wyldstyle - The LEGO Movie Video Game

These two are my favourite on the list.

You have the world's most ordinary guy and a rebellious girl who's boyfriend is a moody Batman for crying out loud!

It's just so cute watching them get close then realise that they have feelings for each other.
