If you've been following Warhammer Quest 2 on the internet for a while now, you'll know people are pretty stroked for it. Yesterday however Stately Play opened up a whole new world of detail as they spoke to Ben Murch (co-founder of Perchang) about the upcoming dungeon crawler.

It's a pretty lengthy interview, but there are a few points raised that really make me even more excited about its release.

The main thing to take away is that WQ2 is going to be a lot bigger than WQ1. Taking place in Middenland, the core game is a ten-part campaign narrative. Aside from that there's a ton of different dungeons to fight in which use a procedural approach to keep them fresh. Apparently there'll also be an expansion campaign on launch which should be the same size as the core game.

The way weaponry will be used is probably one of the more intriguing changes. As Murch states, "Weapons and items are now very different too. We got rid of the idea of Longsword +1, +2, etc. Now each weapon only has one variant, but it plays a very specific role. Different items do different damage types (slashing, piercing, crushing) and enemies have varying resistances. So depending on the enemy type, you’ll need to find the right tool for the job."

Finally, environment-wise each of the levels will be collision mapped, meaning all ranged attacks work on sight. "So, if there’s a gap between two pillars and you can 'see' an enemy, you can try to hit them." This should prove for some seriously interesting strategic combat.

If you want the full run-down, I highly recommend checking out the full interview right here.
