Since the Activision Blizzard merger last year, the gaming mega-giant has been quite vocal on its intentions to only retain those franchises that fit with its long-term strategy (being Guitar Hero, as Joystiq astutely points out).

However, it seems that even Activision couldn't ignore the demand for nostalgic gaming, and has just released the King's Quest and Space Quest series onto Valve's Steam network for PC gamers.

While there's no immediate talk of mobile gaming for these prolific and immensely popular one-time Sierra titles, the massive impact that the iPhone release of Monkey Island has just caused makes us wonder if the portable adventure game resurgence could soon bring these games to Apple's handset as well.

In many respects, it seems like it'd be madness not to put these easily converted, yet highly desirable games onto the hottest platform of the year. We shall see.

Where's Leisure Suit Larry? That's what I want to know.
