Vidyo

A super smart new app for iPhone and iPad called Vidyo! lets you capture video of whatever is on your device's screen, allowing you to quickly save footage of apps and games.

The app uses the AirPlay technology on iOS, to essentially send footage... to itself. Video can be captured at 1080p and at 60 frames per second, and you can also capture from the microphone and either camera while you play for commentary.

When you start the app, you pick an audio source and a video source, and your output options. You then hit "Start".

Then, after opening your app or game of choice, you open Control Center, tap AirPlay, and pick "Vidyo" from the list. Repeat this step to finish the recording.

The video will be saved to your camera roll, or you can use the editing and mixing tools in the app to futz with the footage.

It's a little fiddly at first. The quality is going to depend on the power of your device. And it may even break Apple's rules and could be removed from the App Store.

But if you want an easy way to save video of your favourite iOS games, Vidyo! is one to check out.
