Scottish developer Chris Sawyer has confirmed in an interview with website Gamasutra that his upcoming mobile port of Transport Tycoon won't be a free-to-play title.
"It's a paid title," Sawyer told Gamasutra's (and Pocket Gamer's) Mike Rose.
"The game doesn't suit the free-to-play revenue model, and I'm also not a great fan of the way free-to-play titles try to make money through in-game purchases or advertising."
According to Sawyer, this "revised" and "revitalised" edition of Transport Tycoon has - through necessity - been "completely re-written".
It'll have the same graphical style and isometric viewpoint as its predecessor, but will boast a fresh interface and controls that are suited to touchscreen devices.
