Touchdown Hero: New Season - A casual game with charming visuals but not much else

Touchdown Hero: New Season is a very simple game. All you have to do is use your finger to steer an American Footballer up a series of pitches, scoring a touchdown whenever you cross the line from one into the other.

Opposition players run at you, and when they pile you into the dirt it's game over.

It sounds simple, but as you pass from pitch to pitch various surfaces and weather effects obscure the growing number of opponents heading your way, so it's a challenge to last more than a minute or so. If you do, you get to unlock new customisable and upgradeable footballers.

The pixel-art graphics are nice, the gameplay is accessible, and the controls are responsive, but in the end we suspect you'll find that simply dodging stuff with your finger is too basic a mechanic for Touchdown Hero: New Season to be a lasting diversion.

Touchdown Hero: New Season does what little it does well, but it does too little to be a fixture on your home screen
