Incoming! The most exciting iOS and Android games for November and beyond
|

October was a pretty good month for iOS and Android games. In fact, we managed to add several new Gold Award-winning titles to our collection.

But this is no time for reminiscing. It's time to look ahead to the rest of November, and beyond.

Over the next few weeks and months, we're still hoping to get our mitts on Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Unreal Engine-powered dungeon-crawler Infinity Blade Dungeons, and plenty of other potential award winners.

Naturally, unexpected delays, last-minute changes, and approval processes could hinder the release of any of the following games.

Alien Vs Predator
By Angry Mob Games - coming to iPhone, iPad, and Android this month

Back in 2010, Angry Mob Games released a rather excellent hack 'n' slash-'em-up called Predators, which was loosely based on Robert Rodriguez's movie of the same name.

Now, the studio is working on an gorgeous-looking Alien Vs Predator title that allows you to take control of both extra-terrestrial warriors, and stalk armed marines across 21 stages.

Your goal is simple: kill or be killed.

The Walking Dead: The Game - Episode 5
By Telltale - coming to iPhone and iPad in the near future

No Time Left, the fifth and final episode of Telltale's increasingly-popular point-and-click adventure series, can't come soon enough.

Around Every Corner ended with a rather large cliff-hanger, and we're pretty eager to see whether or not protagonist Lee, his sidekick Clementine, and the survivors from the game's first four episodes can survive another few hours of zombie attacks unscathed.

Skylanders: Battlegrounds
By Activision - coming to iPhone and iPad this month

Late last month, Activision officially announced that "console-like, action-RPG" Skylanders: Battlegrounds would be making its way to iOS, complete with a miniature Bluetooth-enabled portal that you can use to transport characters into the game.

Battlegrounds will be part of a "mobile starter pack" that features the aforementioned portal, three Skylander figurines - Double Trouble, Jet-Vac, and Cynder - and a Hidden Treasure item.

We presume any other toys you've collected will also be compatible with this game.

Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas!
By Cornfox & Bros. - coming to iPhone and iPad in 2012

For those of you who aren't familiar with Oceanhorn, it's an extremely colourful "console-style action-RPG-adventure" game that's very reminiscent of Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series.

In Oceanhorn, you explore a fantasy world that consists of multiple puzzle-filled islands, with the ultimate aim of slaying the beast that killed your parents.

Oceanhorn will focus on exploration and puzzle-solving, rather than grinding for loot and XP.

Karateka
By Liquid Entertainment - coming to iPhone and iPad soon

Karateka is a classic martial arts brawler that was created back in 1984 for the Apple II by Jordan Mechner - the mastermind behind action-orientated platformer Prince of Persia.

It was subsequently ported to the Atari 7800, the Atari ST, and the Commodore 64, as well a range of other consoles.

We don't know too much about this iOS port, but it will boast new graphics and a fresh art-style.

Assassin's Creed Utopia
By Ubisoft - coming to iPhone, iPad, and Android in 2012

This mobile Assassin's Creed title has been pegged as an "introduction" to the recently released action-packed console game Assassin's Creed III.

This game follows a tribe of Europeans as they attempt to construct a New World colony on Roanoke Island. You'll be charged with building cities, managing resources, and defeating enemies in turn-based battles.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
By Rockstar - coming to iOS and Android soon

Yes, crime simulation GTA: Vice City is on its way to mobile devices, complete with high-resolution graphics and all of the '80s-themed features that made this classic PS2 game a, well, classic.

As most of you probably know, this open-world game sees you take on the role of Tommy Vercetti - a Liberty City mafia member who's sent to the Miami-esque Vice City on a cocaine buying mission.

Naturally, things don't exactly go to plan, and you're left scrambling to retrieve the money and drugs that've been stolen from you.

Modern Combat 4
By Gameloft - coming to iPhone, iPad, and Android in "autumn 2012"

The fourth instalment of Gameloft's Call of Duty-esque shoot 'em-up franchise is scheduled to explode onto the iPhone, iPad, and Android-powered devices before the end of this year.

Gameloft recently revealed that you'll play as both the protagonist and antagonist of Modern Combat 4. The game's plot centres around the kidnapping of fictional US president Burke.

Beatdown!
By Ravenous Games - coming to iPhone and iPad on November 15th

As you can see from the trailer above, Beatdown! is a pixel-art-infused side-scrolling beat-'em-up that's similar to Final Fight, Streets of Rage, and other classic games of the genre.

This upcoming 69p / 99c Universal app is from the creators of League of Evil and Random Heroes, so we definitely have high hopes for it.

Star Command
By War Balloon Games - coming to iPhone, iPad, and Android in January 2013

Unfortunately, excellent-looking Game Dev Story-esque space simulation Star Command has been delayed once again, and is now no longer expected to launch this year. Bummer. Basically, it'll be a little while longer before you get the chance to take control of your very own space vessel. We suppose you can use the extra time to plan where you'll put your medical bays.
