Bigs guns meet arcade strategy in iPhone shooter Tiny Tanks
Panzer lite
Stressing the contrast between little and large comes Tiny Tanks.
A topdown arcade shooter, you take control of your tiny green tank, moving it with a floating virtual joypad, and tapping anywhere on the screen to fire.
Obviously, the trajectory of your shells can only match the current position of your tank, so tapping directly on the enemy doesn't work if there's a wall between you, for example.
Still, with each shell capable of bouncing off a wall once, and the ability for you and the enemy to shoot down incoming shells with your own, there's more strategy in this game than might appear from first impressions.
Tracks of victoryThere are currently 20 levels to fight through (more promised), with your progress timed and tracked via OpenFeint so you can improve your performance. The amount of times you're hit and your accuracy also feed into the five star rating per level and your overall game score.
Tiny Tanks, the first release from Canadian outfit Logix Digital is out now for iPhone and iPod touch, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p. Or you can check out the free Lite version here [iTunes link].
