We've had wave after wave of tower defence games, even reverse tower defence games.

Thai developer Picsoft is making its own way in the genre, however, with Tiny Defense.

It limits the action to a 2D side-on perspective, which, as the developer explains, allows the differences in terrain type and height to be reflected in the behaviour and attributes of each unit - whether the 40 tower types or the 32 enemy units.

In addition, there are different environments such as underwater levels filled with fast submarine and levels with natural hazards.

Cute little robots

Combined with a lively, super-deformed art style, 150 levels, and 30 mini-games, the whole package looks like it's shaping up to be something worth checking out.

And we don't have long to wait, either, as Tiny Defense should be out on the App Store for iPhone on September 22nd, priced $2.99 / €2.39 / £1.99.

You can see how it plays in the following video.
