Telltale says they may try to finish The Walking Dead: The Final Season

Telltale Games is shutting its doors, but they may try to see The Walking Dead to its finale. Episode 2 of The Walking Dead: The Final Season released this week, and there are still two more episodes left in limbo after the studio laid off the majority of its staff last week. The studio released a statement on Twitter expressing hopes that the project could be finished:

Hi everyone, we have a Walking Dead update for you. Multiple potential partners have stepped forward to express interest in helping to see The Final Season through to completion. While we can’t make any promises today, we are actively working towards a solution that will allow episodes 3 and 4 to be completed and released in some form. In the meantime, episode 2 will release tomorrow across all platforms as planned. We hope to have answers for your other questions soon.

It's worth noting the entire team working on The Walking Dead was laid off from Telltale Games without severance pay and no health insurance beyond the end of September. It’s hard to say who would be involved with the final two episodes and what shape they would be in if they are ever released.

Telltale Games laid off 250 of its staff last Friday, and will be closing down for good once the studio finishes its work on Minecraft: Story Mode. Apart from The Walking Dead, the company had also been planning a Stranger Things game with Netflix, and a second season of The Wolf Among Us.
