Upcoming indie horror game The Visitor: Dark Space Chronicles receives trailer

Setting a horror game in space is a tricky business, as it's a surefire way to invite comparisons to the venerable first-person shooter Doom.

In its upcoming game The Visitor: Dark Space Chronicles, the indie game studio Waves and Blaze hopes to head off any Doom comparisons by focusing on the game's mystery and adventure aspects.

Players begin The Visitor: Dark Space Chronicles by landing on a deserted space station which they soon learn isn't quite as deserted as they'd like it to be.

As they investigate the abandoned station, players will start to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of its crew and the true nature of what was being stored in the station.

Spacing Out

The Visitor: Dark Space Chronicles will allow players to upgrade their character and gear to specialize in either fighting or fleeing from their foes.

While having a particularly fast sprinter equipped to outrun the horrors of space isn't the sort of thing that heroic stories are based on, it certainly presents a welcome alternative to the trigger-happy space marine hero that stars in most other space shooters.

There's no word on an official release date for The Visitor: Dark Space Chronicles, but its developers expect it to arrive on the App Store soon.
