We're one step closer to the weekend and enjoying a bit of sunny weather here in the UK before more rain sets in. It's finally starting to feel like autumn, and both Ric and I are likely the only people in Pocket Gamer happy to see the back of summer.

That makes us sound miserable, but what's not to love about blanket and big jumper weather? Nothing, that's what. Also, you know what's not miserable? The updates list, of course.

Since it's Wednesday, you know what that means. We have a scout about the net for the very finest mobile game updates and give them a place to shine. Now's a good time to make sure everything's up to date on your phones, eh?

Empire & Puzzles

Alright, kicking things off with Empires & Puzzles doesn't exactly start us off with a bang. Not because it's not a good update, but rather it's been described very – er – minimally.

"Defend your empire with new exciting features". So long as they are indeed new and exciting, I guess we can take Small Giant's word for it. But this RPG puzzler's a fun one to play anyways, so who's really complaining?

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

With Halloween closing in, it's the month of spooky things. That's probably a good time to launch a bunch of Halloween festivities, right? All throughout the month, there'll be special, limited-time events and stories going on.

According to the website, you've got the Animagus side quest available now where you'll meet Talbott Winger. In your time with him, you'll discover all of his secrets and powers and maybe even figure out if you've got the gift too.

Hero Hunters

Phew, as far as updates go this is definitely the biggest one for a while. In Hero Hunters you've got a bunch of new features to check out: a scavenger hunt for pumpkins, Hero Draft Brawl, six new skins, holiday store, and a free trial of the Custom Crate (a place to build your ideal crate).

There are also two new heroes to meet. Brogan, a seven-star Hero, is a complete lunatic who loves guns and buffs his teammates big time. Then you've got Min, a tech genius, who uses her support to prevent enemy skills, steal cooldowns, and force reloads.

MARVEL Contest of Champions

Alright, this one snuck out a week back, but it's no less relevant now than it was then. If you missed the update, there's an intense new quest to get involved in, featuring Doctor Strange and the powerful Symbiotic Sorcerer. There's also a bit of an odd pairing as Venom joins the fun (but not the one you're thinking of).

Real Racing 3

Petrol-heads, rejoice! Version 6.6.1 celebrates German manufacturers as this latest updates brings BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche front and centre.

Aside from taking on McLaren's Shadow Project in the Time Trial competition, you'll now be able to get your hands on three new BMW cars for your garage. You can also earn the 2016 Mercedes AMG C63 Touring Car from a Limited-Time series and take on Porsche in two different ways: the King of the Ring special event (2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS) and in celebrating 70 years of Porsche (1968 Porsche 909 Bergspyder).

The Simpsons: Tapped Out

Of course, it wouldn't be much of an update for October if we weren't getting a Treehouse of Horror event. Though Mummies, Vampires, and Werewolves are supposed to be scary creatures, the males of the species aren't quite feeling it this year.

Luckily their wives, She-Wolf, Countess Dracula, and Womenhet (the mummy), have their backs and aren't content to let the season pass them by. Time to watch some ladies get their spook on.

Temple Run 2

With the marigold's beauty spreading across the Cove, it's time to start celebrating the season in style. First stop? The Spirits Cove map, of course.

While you go, you can also unlock new outfits fit for the season, collect Spirits Cove Skull Artefacts, take another whack at the Spooky Summit map, and have fun with Halloween characters and outfits while you can. Tis the season, after all, and it won't last forever.
