History Channel releases The Great Martian War as an endless runner

Once upon a time, The History Channel was a respected bulwark of the types of programs you'd get to see in Social Studies class when your teacher needed a day off.

It quickly got over that period and now shamelessly peddles shows like Ax Men, Ice Road Truckers, and - of course - The Great Martian War.

That last one's got a good amount of traction from The History Channel's usual viewers, and this popularity has inspired the network to release it onto the App Store and Google Play as... an endless runner.

It's worth noting that there are a lot of IAPs in The Great Martian War, so your enjoyment of it may vary, but if you can get past that there's a lot to like here.

For starters, it's got a great, alterna-history World War I atmosphere along with randomly-generated levels.

Sure, the premise is a bit dodgy - you're a military scout sent to run through Martian lines - but if you've ever wanted a period endless runner that lets you dash off as a doughboy, you'll be hard-pressed to find better than The Great Martian War.
