The Elder Scrolls: Blades is a fully-fledged mobile Elder Scrolls game, and of course, it comes with all of the mobile game trimmings, including premium currency.

Gems can be used for so many things in the world of The Elder Scrolls: Blades that it can become overwhelming. Just know that those gems are precious, and spending them all might be a bad idea.

In this guide we're going to run you through how to earn more gems, what you should spend them on, and to be cautious of buying too many. Read on for everything you need to know.

What gems are used for

The Elder Scrolls Blades

Gems are used for so many things in The Elder Scrolls: Blades that it's tough to know where to start.

Gems are the premium currency in The Elder Scrolls: Blades and, luckily enough, you will get gems outside of actually paying for them. Phew!

Gems will be there to obviously buy things from the store, but they have better uses in the game, such as expanding your inventory or your chest storage.

Occasionally, it'll even be tempting to use gems to replace a deficit of common crafting materials when erecting new buildings or crafting something. Gems can even replace gold. But that's not their best use if you can avoid it.

Gems will also speed up timers on crafting, buildings, and more. But their best use might be for wooden chests.

Should you fill up on chests and find more, you'll be prompted to open them immediately. In the case of the wooden chests, which only require a single gem to open instantly, this might actually be a good idea, as the materials inside will almost certainly be worth more than one gem.

Though you should be careful not to spend too many. Ultimately, you'll always come across a situation where you wish you had more gems to speed things up. Save them for those moments.

1
Enemy drops

You can, in fact, get gems from killing enemies, though this is incredibly rare.

This is total luck. While going through jobs or quests, make sure to wipe out any enemies you come across, and there's a chance you'll get a gem as a reward for taking them down.

There is no really reliable way to farm gems from killing enemies right now, though, from anecdotal experience, you seem to get boosted gem drops after spending some.

2
Level up rewards

Each time you level up you'll be given a fresh reward, which can of course include a bundle of gems. Incredibly precious.

But, of course, there's no guarantee of that. Your level up rewards are static, and you certainly won't be earning gems each time.

But, when you do, it'll be a nice chunky dose to top up your gems and push you towards that next upgrade.

Money?

Yeah, this isn't the tip you wanted, but if for some reason you really wanted gems, you could always buy them?

You'll get extra gems for your first ever purchase, so your first time might be worth it, but after that, be cautious.

Spending money on in-app purchases can be a slippery slope, and if you think you're spending too much, let someone know.
