[Update] Our IAP sense is tingling: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 now out for iOS and Android
Updated at 4:31pm GMT - Since posting this story, a few of our readers have pointed out that the game requires a constant internet connection in order to be played. We're pointing that out here because not everyone likes the idea of 'always on' internet connections in games. The original story follows.

There are signs in the air that summer's almost upon us - the weather's warmer, the birds are singing, and there's a new Spider-Man movie in theaters.

To celebrate the occasion - if not the season - Gameloft's released a new movie tie-in game based on the blockbuster he Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Out now for iOS and Android, this beefy 689MB web-slinger features an original story that expands on the plot of the pre-summer blockbuster and introduces characters like Black Cat and Screwball along with favourite villains like Venom, Electro, and Kraven the Hunter.

Similar to the Silver Award-winning prequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 features an open world mock-up of Manhattan for you to websling your way around - with detailed areas like Times Square and Central Park ready to explore.

The only potential downside is the asking price - $4.99 / £2.99 - and the fact that it offers in-app purchases ranging from consumables to the ever-popular "Unlock all suits" feature for $24.99 / £17.49.

Still, the combo-based combat and graphics in general are both looking pretty slick - so we could definitely see Marvel fans being tempted by this one.
