Swipey Rogue brings extra panic to grid-based dungeon crawling

Being a fan of dungeon crawling, Swipey Rogue hits a lot of my buttons being a swipe-based action-RPG.

Its creator rightly describes it as a one-touch action runner combined with a top-down grid-based RPG.

The idea is to move your knight through a series of single screen rooms, getting from the start to the exit intact.

The pressure is always on as your knight moves forward automatically. And each dungeon is full of false floors, lava, arrow traps, and enemies.

To move them in a direction, dodging each of these hazards, you swipe the screen. So there's a need for good timing and perception.

But each level is also a puzzle. You fight enemies automatically if you run into them. They always take a certain amount of health from you, which can be predicted.

Knowing this, if your health is too low, you'll need to find a breakable pot to get at the health pickup inside. Working out where to go and in what order is something you have to consider while avoiding everything else.

You can get a look at the game in its pre-alpha state in the development video above. It seems to be coming along pretty well so we'll be keeping an eye on this one.

You can too by checking out its SlideDB page, if you want.
