N-Gage + DS + Game Boy ...

If you want to reach out and touch someone, the commercials are always telling us, use a mobile phone. And one person who's clearly got the message is Apple boss Steve Jobs.

Even in his wildest dreams (and we wouldn't be surprised to learn an asteroid speeding towards Earth seeing Steve 'Ace' Jobs sent in a nuclear-warhead armed Space Shuttle to intercept it to save everyone *and* their puppies is just a B-grade one for him), even Jobs couldn't have predicted the near unanimous acclaim the iPhone announcement got this week.

Still, he was modest about it. Okay, not really. Apple's CEO apparently "trash-talked the Treo, the BlackJack, the Sony PSP and the Sony Mylo ("just garbage compared to this"), Windows Vista ("It's just a copy of an old version of Mac OSX") and of course Microsoft's would-be iPod killer, Zune," we learned.

Ever the trendsetter, Jobs set others off: Pocket Gamer's Fraser MacInnes trash-talked modders who connected a Wii to a GBA, while Sony's Phil Harrison was trash-talking his own PSP. Well, at least according to writer Robert Howells, for whom a glass is presumably not so much half-full, as four-fifths empty.

The big question around here of course is: whither games on the iPhone? We started reviewing iPod games the day they came out, but then they pretty much immediately stopped coming out. This week EA announced it's working on more iPod games, however, perhaps responding to the iPhone launch.

And related news, Microsoft finally confirmed games are on the agenda for its Zune device. But not until 2008. Back to sleep then.

What about the traditional consoles? Well, modders have created an iPod scroll wheel for DS... What's that? Enough Apple, you say? Alas, we've run out of space to tell you about these cool Mario trainers, this DS/GBA carrying case, or even Sony's new gold edition PSP that's exclusive to Japan. Until next week, i-bye!
