Capcom gives gamers a taste of Street Fighter X Tekken through new F2P edition

Capcom has just launched a new iPhone and iPad brawler that features characters from the company's recently released Street Fighter X Tekken game.

It's called Street Fighter X Tekken Gauntlet, and it's available to download completely free of charge.

This new beat-'em-up differs in a few ways from Capcom's previous mobile brawlers, mind.

There isn't a large roster of characters from which to choose, for starters. In fact, you can play as just two: Street Fighter's Ryu and Tekken's Kazuya.

In the ring, you'll face off against an endless string of opponents from both franchises in one-on-one battles.

Get your face kicked in or allow the game's ever-decreasing timer to hit zero and it's Game Over. You can complete in-fight challenges to extend said timer, mind.

I've just taken Street Fighter X Tekken Gauntlet for a spin, and I must say, it's pretty good.

If you've played any of Capcom's previous iOS beat-'em-ups, you'll instantly be able to pull off impressive moves using the (surprisingly accurate) virtual controls.

If I have one gripe, though, it's with the game's challenges. These are displayed on your screen at all times and constantly obscure your view slightly as you play.

Still, for free (there are no in-app purchases), you can't really moan.
