Series stalwarts to face off in touchscreen beat-'em-up

iPhone's Street Fighter IV playable characters and price revealed

Street Fighter IV is likely to be one of the App Store highlights of 2010, and Capcom revealed that would be landing its iPhone punch some time in March.

GamePro has seen the latest handheld iteration of the long-running tournament fighter series in action, which will apparently feature eight playable characters from the outset.

Series stalwarts Ryu, Ken, Guile, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, M. Bison, and newcomer Abel will have their gloves on when the game launches at the full price of £5.99/$9.99.

A gameplay video of Ken and Ryu fighting shown some pretty spectacular visuals, easily comparable to the console version
in terms of speed and flashiness. The controls appear to work pretty well, too.

It's hard to imagine a Street Fighter game without Ryu's arch-nemesis Sagat, or the fast hands of E. Honda for that matter, so I'm still expecting new characters to become available through updates or optional downloads. We shall see.

Get ready for round one.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
