Just like magic

Steve Jackson's Sorcery! will cast a spell over the App Store from midnight tonight

The App Store is currently playing host to a veritable revival of '80s physical games.

We've watched Tin Man Games bring the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks back to life to our utter delight.

And just seven days ago, Nomad released a digital version of old skool boardgame Talisman. Which proceeded to win our reader's iOS and Android Game of the Week poll.

Now, it's the turn of Steve Jackson's Sorcery! to get a new lease of life.

The first part of the adventure, subtitled The Shamutanti Hills, has just gone live in New Zealand. That means it'll be hitting the UK and US App Stores at around midnight.

Designed from the ground up for touchscreen devices, this re-interpretation of the classic gamebook series features thousands of choices for aspiring adventurers to make.

There are 45 different spells to master, plus a unique sword fighting system that'll bring you closer to the clashing of steel than ever before.

Oh, and did we mention it looks amazing? Yep, we did. That's because Sorcery! features a hand-drawn explorable 3D map and characters drawn by DC Comics artist Eddie Sharam.

Throw in some clever technology that reacts to your actions and rewrites the book to fit your play style, and you're left with an adventure story starring, well, YOU.

If all of that sounds like your cup of tea, you'll be able to grab Steve Jackson's Sorcery! from the App Store for £2.99 / $4.99 when the clock strikes 12 tonight.
