You've probably heard the news by now and, lord knows, I've been dying to scream it from Pocket Gamer's metaphorical rooftops. Stardew Valley is headed to mobile... let's just let that sink in.

As is typical for the nature of Chucklefish's announcements, you've only got to wait until October 24th before grabbing it on the App Store for £7.99/$7.99. An Android version is also in the works, so there'll be more news on that at a later date.

Any long-term readers will know that Stardew Valley is up there as one of my favourite games ever. After growing tired of the repetitious trundle of city life, and having inherited your late-grandfather's farm, you head out to Pelican Town to start life anew.

Throughout your time in Stardew Valley you'll work through four seasons and multiple years, experience local festivals, make friends, find love, and really become a part of the community. You'll learn what to grow, how to lay out your farm, time and energy management, and just have fun as you restore both your farm and Pelican town to its former glory.

This is a game I can't praise enough for its simplistic and wonderfully charismatic approach. It'll come built from the ground up for mobile with a new UI and implemented touchscreen controls.

PC-users will also be able to pick up where you left off by transferring your save file through iTunes, though it's much more fun to start fresh. Are you looking forward to getting your hands on it? Let us know in those comments below.
