Knights of the Old Republic will become a Universal iOS game in the not-too-distant future

According to IGN, the Gold Award-winning iOS port of BioWare's classic Star Wars RPG Knights of the Old Republic will be turned into a Universal app for iOS in the not-too-distant future.

That's right - you'll soon be able to play the brilliant, deep precursor to the Mass Effect series on your teeny-tiny iPhone. The game will support iPhone 4S and up, and the fifth-gen iPod touch.

There'll also be some tweaks and under-the-hood polishing to fit the game on the differently shaped screen of the iPhone. Those with A7-powered devices will see some shiny new graphical effects in the game, too.

At review, we called the game "a truly exceptional RPG and one of the best Star Wars games ever released on any platform".

We'll let you know when the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic update hits the App Store.
