Sonic The Hedgehog 4 iPhone getting two exclusive stages

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 will get two more levels than its console brethren when it hits the iPhone this summer.

That's what Sega's PR team unveiled on Gamespot's On the Spot video podcast this week.

These exclusive stages will make use of the iPhone's accelerometer tilt sensor. Maybe that will include the bafflingly awful mine cart stage that has you rotating the entire level to get Sonic around the tracks.

Sonic 4 goes back to the hedgehog's routes by sticking to a flat 2D plane, reducing the number of annoying pals and drawing inspiration from the early Mega Drive games, instead of the awful recent showings on home consoles.

The game will release on home consoles and iPhone this summer.
