Hit iPod game now in tune with the iPhone / iTouch

TGS 09: Square Enix reveals Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes - Encore for iPhone

This year's Tokyo Game Show is in full swing over in Japan; quite literally since Square Enix revealed that its unexpected iPod hit game Song Summoner is coming to iPhone.

The iPod title, which only made it to our shores a little over a year ago when the iPhone had already gathered its momentum, proved that Apple's previous generation of music players still had what it takes to entertain.

The game makes use of your song list, turning tunes into battle units and assigning them with skill sets all based on the songs selected.

As capable a platform as the iPod turned out to be, it's easy to see how the iPhone and iPod touch have the ability to really unlock Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes – Encore's potential.

Japanese gaming website AppBank was on hand to test out the game with Square Enix, shown creating new music fighting characters in the video below. Let's just hope Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes – Encore finds its way to the worldwide App Store as quickly as possible.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
