Sokobond needed to exist, like, 10 years ago. I never got on with chemistry at school, you see.

The frothing test tubes and contained explosions were fun, sure. Once, my teacher nearly killed my classmates and I after accidentally releasing an ugly yellow gas into the room. Chemistry class certainly had its moments.

But, as far as learning the actual subject goes, well, I struggled to care enough - I found it boring.

Sokobond is special. It somehow darts around my apathy and has taught me more about chemical bonding than any of my teachers did.

It's an elegant puzzle game that has you bringing atoms together in order to create molecules. It all takes place in neat little grids that challenge you with spatial puzzles.

The idea is to move an atom around and have it connect to other atoms in the right order and shape to create the desired molecule. It's easy to make a mistake.

What's wonderful about it, though, is that you don't need to have any prior chemistry knowledge to succeed.

Sokobond teaches you its rules just like any other puzzle game. You're then able to solve its puzzles with your progressive understanding of these rules.

It doesn't just teach you chemistry, either. It goes beyond that, with its elegant art style and mesmerising soundtrack by Ryan Roth, having you realise the beauty of science.

Sokobond

It's for these reasons that I'm glad to hear that Sokobond will be reaching new players when it comes to iOS and Android.

He couldn't say much at this point, but developer Alan Hazelden was able to confirm that Sokobond will "definitely" be coming to mobile.

"Hopefully out by the end of the year, but I don't want to promise anything that I might not be able to deliver on," he added.

Now that Sokobond is out on PC, you'd hope that the mobile versions of the game are Hazelden's main focus now. However, he's also currently building another of our anticipated games in A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build.

With any luck, Hazelden will have two new puzzle games for us by the end of the year. You can find more information on Sokobond on its website.
