Skylanders: Battlegrounds lands on iPhone and iPad for £4.99/$6.99

Skylanders: Battlegrounds, the latest mobile instalment in the über-popular Activision franchise, is finally available to download from the App Store as a Universal app for £4.99 / $6.99.

In Skylanders: Battlegrounds, you once again face off against Spyro's Adventure antagonist Kaos and his evil army of Warlord minions, as you fight to protect never-before-seen areas of Skylands.

Unlike in previous franchise instalments, you can send two Skylanders into battle at once.

So, you can take down enemies using a mix of Spyro's fast magic attacks and Flameslinger's powerful fire strikes, or crush your foes with attacks from two earth-based characters like Bash and Dino-Rang.

As you progress, you can upgrade your team's abilities and make them even stronger.

Spring into action

You can bring Skylanders to life inside the game in two different ways.

You can either connect Activision's new Bluetooth-powered mobile portal to the game and import the physical toys you've collected over the past year or so into the title. Or you can use "secret codes" to unlock them.

The new portal is available as part of a £39.99 mobile starter pack [buy] that also features three Series 2 figurines - Cynder, Double Trouble, and Jet-Vac - and a Treasure Chest item.
