Silly Sausage: Doggy Dessert review - More of the same, and that's great

For: iPhone

Dog day afternoon

Product: Silly Sausage: Doggy Dessert | Publisher: Nitrome | Format: iPhone | Players: 1 | Version: Europe | App version: 1.0.1

Silly Sausage: Doggy Dessert is, as you might be able to tell from the title, the sequel to Silly Sausage. And it picks up where the first one left off, in a manner of speaking.

You’re still stretching a dog through a series of puzzling levels, but this time everything is dessert themed instead of meaty.

And yes, before you ask, you still get an achievement for sniffing your own butt. So it’s basically the best game ever, part two.

Dog days

If you didn’t play the original, the game sees you controlling a sausage dog. You swipe on the screen to start stretching in that direction.

You can change the direction of the stretch while it’s ongoing, and even go back on yourself. And you’ll stop when you latch onto a piece of the wall.

There are gems to collect as you work through the game, and you can spend these on the checkpoints that break up the levels. You can also unlock them by watching videos.

You’ll need to navigate around a variety of obstacles, from spikes, gnashing mouths, flying knives, and a bunch of different styles of gates.

And it’s all an awful lot of fun. There’s a solid level of challenge here as well. Things get tricky quickly, and getting past a particularly tricky section will always put a smile on your face.

There are also some tougher levels that you access through pipes. You unlock them by watching videos, and they pose the toughest tests that the game has to offer.

You’ll find yourself enjoying almost every second of the game, munching your way through cake, dodging past all the things that want to kill you, and grabbing gems.

Doggone

The original Silly Sausage was a great game, and this sequel is more of the same. It doesn’t add much to the formula, but then it didn’t really need to.

This is an entertaining and enjoyable addition to the Silly Sausage lineage, and you’re going to have a blast working through its labyrinths, mazes, and butt sniffs.

A great sequel that recaptures all of the magic that made the original game so addictive
