I'm fairly certain that Gameloft has never gone back and added in multiplayer after the fact. Up until now, the online is either already build into the game before it ships, or online never happens. If this update actually make it to market, it provides a little more hope that perhaps MC multiplayer really will happen. I'm still not convinced of that, to be honest. But Asphalt 5 shows that Gameloft is capable of creating functional global online, and now this would prove that Gameloft is willing to add a significant mode to a game after it has already been released.

@dumas1000: they did go back and add wifi multiplayer to Real Soccer 09, although I never used it.
