Gameloft does Advance Wars with iPhone strategy game Rogue Planet

It's all about the turn

Product: Rogue Planet | Developer: Agharta Studio | Publisher: Gameloft | Genre: Strategy
It could be argued Gameloft has been working its way through all the big game genres, coming up with generically titled iPhone versions.

There's been free-roaming/GTA clone Gangstar, FPS Modern Combat, with weapons beat'-em up Blades of Fury and, and Diablo action-RPG Dungeon Hunter.

All of which have been enjoyable games by the way.

Now we're in the slot of turn-based strategy games such as Advance Wars with Rogue Planet.

Developed by French outfit Agharta Studio, the game is set in the future with a spaceship returning to Earth after a 30 year mission.

As can be seen in the video below, the game seems to be a traditional mixture of unit movement, combined with cash resource management. You move your forces around the map with battles taking place in a separate one-on-one screen, before switching back to the normal isometric battlefield.

You'll be able to play as various characters from the ship: we're assuming each will have different attributes in terms of available cash and special attacks such as air strikes and missiles.

You'll also be able to take over buildings including factories to build more units.

Rogue Planet is due to be released on 24 November. Pricing has yet been announced but $6.99, €5.49 or £3.99 seems likely.

Whoo-hoo! I love turn-based strategy games (although I've never played Advance Wars. I know, I should be ashamed) so I'm glad to see another one coming out, to sit beside Mecho Wars =D

I'm thinking X-Com with AW-like battle animations more than just Advance Wars :)
