Ravenmark goes multiplayer with announced sequel, Mercenaries
Wars with friends
There's nothing that can top the glorious feeling of wiping an army off the map of a fantasy battlefield - unless, of course, that army was controlled by one of your friends.
Witching Hour Studios knows this well, which is why the recently announced Ravenmark: Mercenaries is advertising its new multiplayer mode so prominently.
Mercenaries is a sequel to the Pocket Gamer Bronze Award-winning strategy title Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion which secured a place in the hearts of mobile strategy gamers in December 2011.
Uncanny mercenaryAs part of the Ravenmark saga, Mercenaries continues the rich, fantasy storyline of the war-torn world of Eclisse but adds several new features to its gameplay.
In addition to a new asynchronous multiplayer mode, players will now be able to participate in different types of engagements that will let them interact with the story in different ways.
During these battles, players will also be able to give bonuses to troops under their control via Commander Traits and Abilities. The newly-added Regimental Standards will also provide boosts for troops (or their morale at least) for as long as they remain standing.
There's no specific release date for Ravenmark: Mercenaries yet, but we're told to expect it in the Summer of 2013.
If you'll be at PAX East this coming weekend, you can check out the game at Booth 128. For those attending the Games Developer Conference, Mercenaries will also be available for a hands-on there as well.
If you can't be at either event, you'll just have to be patient and watch the teaser trailer below. Luckily, the summer isn't so far off.
