Niantic certainly hasn't been slacking as they released their newest update for Pokemon GO earlier.

Updates 0.33.0 (Android) and 1.3.0 (iOS) went live a short while ago but only a subset of players of players are able to use the new version of their Pokemon tracking feature. On their update log and Facebook page Niantic state, "We’re currently testing a variation of the 'Nearby Pokemon' feature with a subset of users."

Judging the look of the new feature, it could definitely be an improvement – now all they need to do is extend Pokemon into rural areas and we're sorted.

Niantic has also given us the opportunity to change our nicknames (only once), and has finished fiddling with the power-saving function which is now back on iOS versions. You can see the notes from the full update below.
