One of the coolest things to come out of Pokemon GO was the feeling of community in its first run. A recent announcement by Niantic shows that it's looking to keep that feeling going by partnering with Knight Foundation.

Niantic and Knight Foundation have formed their partnership to bring communities together and to promote more engagement in public space - to make the game experience less isolated in a way.

"Pokemon GO has already showed us the impact technology can have on getting people out into public," said Sam Gill, Knight vice president for learning and impact. "We're excited to work with Niantic to explore new ways to help people engage with each other and their neighborhoods."

Several community events are planned in several cities, starting on May 7th in Charlotte, North Carolina, as part of the Open Streets 704 event. Here fans will be able to interact with 16 PokeStops and two Gyms, show on the event's route map (below).
